Traveling across the world opens your eyes. New cultures, foods, and languages may feel worlds apart, yet one truth binds us all: Mamma Earth. No matter where we come from, we share the same responsibility—keeping our planet healthy. We need Hemp Solutions for Plastic Pollution. 

My recent visit to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan drove that message home. As one of the largest aquariums in the world, it showcases the breathtaking beauty and fragility of ocean life. There’s a Coral Sea tank, which exhibits a large selection of a coral reef up-close. A huge Kuroshio Sea tank, where you can observe the world’s biggest fish including a whale sharks and manta rays. Then a Deep Sea tank, which allows you to experience the mysterious underwater world.

After seeing all these amazing creatures, the section of the aquarium that captured my attention the most was the display showing the impact of plastics on sea life. It’s not like I’m completely ignorant of the travesty of what plastic is doing to our planet. I’ve seen it  near my own back yard, watched documentaries and love seeing anything David Attenborough puts together; but this small display made a huge impact on me and made me very sad.

In the deepest, most remote waters where humans don’t live; islands where there’s no one living; our mark is still painfully obvious: clumps of plastic debris, tangled fishing nets, and microplastics inside the bellies of fish, turtles, and other sea creatures.

It’s heartbreaking. And it’s not just ugly—it’s deadly. Plastic pollution is choking the oceans, poisoning ecosystems, and killing marine life. The sad truth? Humans caused this problem. The hopeful truth? Humans need to fix it.
